Sumo in Nagoya


Last Friday I was invited to go to a Sumo tournament in Nagoya. A colleague had tickets for her family but they unexpectedly had to leave Japan early so she invited 4 other folks to go with her. Since I happened to be in Tokyo I was included. We rode the Shinkansen train (fast bullet train) from Tokyo to Nagoya and then the arena was a short walk away.

It was a hoot. Its a pretty amazing spectacle with all the pageantry that surrounds it. It seems every move is choreographed with the exception of the actual wrestling. And make no mistake these are big dudes.
